David does not interact with many people as he is very shy and does not trust them.
David loses his mum and dad and is taken into a concentration camp.
David is always worried about the Bolsheviks and how they took over the country.
David makes choices throughout the book. Some of his choices are bad choices and he is not successful.
David was disappointed because he was told he could never express his feelings to anyone else.
David was very afraid of all his surroundings. He could not trust anyone, and he risked his life be escaping.
